The final whistle.

Paul the octopus had it all right. And I'm so glad he did. I wish I could have been in Spain last night to celebrate this well-deserved victory with my Spanish friends. Viva España! Olé!

Havaianas teams.

When I was little, my mum always used to buy my brothers and me a pair of rubber flip flops for the summer. We'd love them and couldn't care less whether or not they were the fashion. Today they are still my basic summer footwear, but I have to confess that I have become a bit of a flip flop snob as I only ever wear Havaianas'. My Brazilian friends are to blame for this. They introduced me to the brand over ten years ago and I have been addicted ever since. So I am excited to see this limited edition of designs featuring some of the competing Fifa World Cup teams. You'll have to hurry if you'd like to get yourself a pair as they will only be on sale for the duration of the tournament (but in men sizes only, boohoo).

Four weeks of footie fever.

I can recall being in Jo'burg just four years ago during the last Football World Cup when 2010 seemed ever so far away. And yet here we are, on the opening day of the 19th edition of the FIFA World Cup hosted for the first time by an African nation. Kick-off is tonight at 16:00 GMT with South Africa vs. Mexico. Ah, just imagine the pre-world cup buzz and festivities occuring in each town right now. Wouldn't you love to be a part of it? I think I going to start saving up for 2014 in Brazil. Time flies, right?!
